-\tAwareness <\/span> & Prevention <\/span><\/h3>\t\t\t\t\t

Awareness campaigns are initiated and implemented throughout the year. The programmes are implemented in High schools, Primary schools, Cr\u00e8ches as well as in the broader community. The community are empowered in their rights and their responsibilities in order to decrease social ills which cause child abuse, neglect and exploitation.<\/p><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

-\tEarly <\/span> Intervention<\/span><\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t

Once families are identified as \u201cat risk families\u201d early intervention services are rendered which include but are not limited to the enhancement of their parental skills, referral to rehabilitation centres, trauma counselling etc.<\/p><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

-\tStatutory <\/span> <\/span><\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t

The Social Workers are guided by the Children\u2019s Act 38 of 2005. Once the previous interventions had failed it is the responsibility of the Social Worker to immediately safeguard the child\/ren. The matter is taken to the Children\u2019s Court and the child\/ren are placed in a place of safety, which is temporary or foster placement which is recommended to provide more stability for a child\/ren and\/or a Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC). If the child is considered adoptable the matter is referred to an adoption agency or the Department of Social Development.<\/p><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Re-integration and aftercare services are seen as a specialised field within Child Welfare SA Bredasdorp; thus, a Social Worker has been appointed to only render these services to increase the possibility of successfully reunifying children with their families of origin.\u00a0<\/p><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
